Foundation Shifts

Those of us living in the great state of Texas know one thing, our soil conditions mean our homes are going to settle. But did you know that plumbing issues could lead to a foundation shift — particularly a water leak under your slab? Here are some signs to look for if you have noticed an abnormal shift in your foundation:

  • The slab has risen above the original foundation elevation
  • Cracked, or unusually damp foundation or slab
  • Sewer backup problems that become chronic
  • Warm areas on interior floors

The most common plumbing issue related to a foundation shifting is a water leak on the sewer drain system or copper looped domestic water piping. Left untreated, the leaking pipes will continue to shift your homes foundation and could result in a pipe busting and flooding your home.

Possible Solution: Leak Detection

Before a solid solution can be determined, you need to pinpoint the location of the water leak. TDT Plumbing uses hydrostatic and other investigative testing equipment to inspect the sewer drain system or copper looped domestic water piping to pinpoint any water, condensate, storm, or sewer lines that may be corroded or leaking under your house that need repair. Our tests help us assess any plumbing problems and conduct testing without severely disrupting you or your home. Once the root plumbing cause of the foundation shift has been located, we can provide you with repair options.
