Project Type: Municipal — Churches & Chapels – Pipe Restoration
Location: Houston, TX
Description: St. George Chapel is a historic home that was purchased by a parishioner and later donated to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in 2002. The grand historic home was converted to St. George Chapel and is an integral part of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral with church services conducted weekly.
THE PROBLEM:
Aging pipes in the potable plumbing system at the St. George Chapel developed pinhole leaks and caused damage to the chapel’s walls and ceiling. There were also problems in with chapels’ pipes experiencing rusty water and low water pressure. The church needed a solution that would repair the plumbing issues with limited damage to the historic chapel and with limited disruption to the church’s weekly services.
THE SOLUTION:
One of the church’s Maintenance and Ground committee members had heard about a process that was able to rehabilitate the chapel’s galvanized pipes without the need to do wall or ceiling demolition. TDT Plumbing was contacted and the team’s ePIPE technicians designed, developed and executed an In-Place Pipe Restoration strategy that quickly restored the chapel’s potable plumbing system.
