THE PROBLEM:
Heights Medical Tower is a seven-story facility housing medical professionals and various other businesses. The main natural gas supply line from the City meter to the building’s basement area was showing signs of internal corrosion, a common problem with natural gas supply lines. Using traditional pipe replacement techniques would have meant that the patient drop- off and parking areas would have been placed out of service and worse yet would have been cut up to install a new gas line. Gas service would have been disrupted while the line replacement took place. That would have left the facility without the gas required to heat water, leaving no hot water for the physicians treating patients.
THE SOLUTION:
A corrective corrosion control method was recommended. Patrick Gavin from Adams Insurance Service Property Management contacted TDT Plumbing to inquire about their in place pipe restoration system, ACE DuraFlo®. TDT Plumbing was able to provide a barrier coating with corrosion control to the existing 65-foot main gas service line with no disruption to patient care or business operations.
