Project Type: Municipal — Schools & Universities – Pipe Restoration
Location: Houston, TX
Description: Special concern for maintaining the original integrity of the pool and its encasements is a primary concern for the Menil Foundation. To thwart future plumbing issues, the Foundation administrators and engineers hired TDT to e-Pipe the pool’s plumbing infrastructure.
THE PROBLEM:
The reflection pool in the Byzantine Fresco Chapel is a Menil Foundation collection centerpiece located in Houston, Texas.
Special concern for maintaining the original integrity of the pool and its encasements is a primary concern for the Menil Foundation. Though no current problems existed with the pool’s plumbing infrastructure, future plumbing failure would be extremely costly and would risk the debasement of its beauty and integrity, particularly of its black bottom. Thus a decision was made to thwart future issues by taking preventative measures to ensure the longevity of the plumbing infrastructure and preserve its current aesthetic elegance.
THE SOLUTION:
Menil Foundation administrators and engineers determined the best long-term solution for their demanding project was TDT Plumbing’s ACE DuraFlo® e-Pipe epoxy coating system. TDT Plumbing accessed the return and supply lines through a single access point in the mechanical room thus avoiding any breach in the chapel or the pool encasements. Two hundred (200)feet of 2†copper pipe were coated with ACE DuraFlo® e-Pipe epoxy coating system and placed back into service within 48 hours of the project’s initiation.
Menil Foundation officials were extremely pleased with the timely activation, conclusion and mostly, the results.
