Project Type: Municipal — Schools & Universities – Pipe Restoration — Epoxy Coated
Location: Houston, TX
Description: Extensive renovations were performed on the Rothko Chapel resulting in a leak on the a/c condensate line. After a one-day turnaround with minimal disturbance to the chapel or its visitors, TDT restored the a/c condensate line to better-than-new condition.

THE PROBLEM:

The Rothko Chapel, founded by John and Dominique de Menil, was dedicated in 1971 as an intimate sanctuary available to people of every belief. A modern meditative environment inspired by the paintings of
American abstract expressionist Mark Rothko, the Chapel welcomes thousands of visitors each year, people of every faith and from all parts of the world. It retains the support of its surrounding neighborhood and has become a spiritual landmark, central in the lives of many members of a large and diverse urban community.
Extensive renovations were performed on the chapel resulting in a leak on the a/c condensate line. This leak caused water damage to the custom-plastered wall finish. Replacement of the pipe within the walls was cost prohibitive and would seriously interrupt the meditation of the visiting patrons.

THE SOLUTION:

After hearing about the ACE DuraFlo® pipe restoration system offered by TDT Plumbing, Miner-Dederick Constructors, project superintendent of the renovation project, contacted TDT Plumbing for a consultation. The problem was perfectly suited for use of the ACE Duraflo® process and a work order was scheduled to begin a few days later. After a one-day turnaround with minimal disturbance to the chapel or its visitors, the a/c condensate line was restored to better-than-new condition. TDT Plumbing was able to solve this four- year problem in only a few hours and for a fraction of the cost of pipe replacement and damage reconstruction.
