THE PROBLEM:

Young Elementary School was one of many identified for repair under the HISD Bond Program. The school is located in Houston, Texas. Young Elementary School was experiencing severe sewer drain blockage causing sanitation concerns throughout the school. The drain line ran under the school building, grounds and a paved road. The main exit was a 6” concrete line tying to a manhole across the paved road. The 100’ of sewer line suffered from multiple blockages in many locations. Repair time and cost were the primary concerns for this project. HISD needed to address this issue immediately, even though the school year was currently in session. Traditional repair methods would cause tremendous disruption in daily school operations and automobile traffic flow to the paved road adjacent to the school grounds.

THE SOLUTION:

Since line extraction was not possible, Team Advance, contractor for the HISD Bond Program, contacted TDT Plumbing regarding their in-place, pipe restoration system by ACE DuraFlo®. TDT Plumbing assured Team Advance that the restoration could be completed during the school’s Spring Break. The pipe restoration project was initiated the first day of Spring Break and in less than 16 work hours, the highly trained and experienced technicians at TDT Plumbing completed the Young Elementary pipe restoration project with no intrusions to the integrity of the school, grounds or paved road. Team Advance’s project manager was extremely satisfied with the end result.
